The Problem with Pots

Plants never evolved to grow in a box.

Inside a smooth-walled container, a root meets the wall and has nowhere to go — so it circles, girdles, and chokes the tree it was meant to feed. The damage is often invisible until the plant is in the ground, and by then it's too late.

How Air Pruning Works

The air does the pruning. Repeatedly.

No chemicals. No copper. No knife. The pruning is engineered into the geometry of the pot — vertical ribs steer each root toward a vent, where dry air takes over.

Root finds the vent

Vertical ribs guide each growing root outward, toward a side vent in the pot wall.

The tip is air-pruned

As the tip reaches dry air, it desiccates and stops — naturally, with no toxicity.

Dominance breaks

That root loses its dominance, and many secondary roots fire to replace it.

The cycle compounds

Each new root is pruned and replaced again — building a dense mass of vigorous young roots.

Because the vents run up the entire side of the pot — not just the base — roots are pruned across the full surface of the rootball. After transplant, that means a far greater number of roots growing outward at once, giving every tree a serious head start.
